There is something incredibly bittersweet about waiting for your last baby.
For this sweet family, the excitement of welcoming their little boy was mixed with the realization that this would be their final pregnancy. Mom shared that she wanted to soak in every part of this experience while also watching their almost three-year-old daughter become more and more excited about becoming a big sister.
That is exactly why they chose to document this season with maternity photography in Pittsburgh.

Documenting the Last Days as a Family of Three
Before welcoming their baby boy, this family wanted to remember life exactly as it was—a family of three, full of anticipation for what was to come.
Mom shared,
“We don’t have any professional photos of our family, and I just really wanted to document this stage in our lives before we become a family of four. I wanted to capture our daughter at this age and have a memory in beautiful photos of this time with her still as an only child, excited to become a big sister.”
It’s a season that passes so quickly, yet it’s one worth remembering.

Maternity Photography at Hartwood Acres Mansion
We met at Hartwood Acres Mansion, one of my favorite locations for maternity photography in Pittsburgh.
The day was mostly cloudy, giving us beautiful soft light, with the sun occasionally peeking through the clouds for the prettiest golden glow. We wandered around the mansion before making our way into the flower fields, where their daughter happily explored, admired the flowers, and chased bubbles.
There was no pressure for her to perform or smile perfectly at the camera. She simply got to be herself—and those genuine moments always become some of my favorites.

My Favorite Moments From Their Session
One of my favorite photographs from this session is of their daughter snuggled up beside her mom. Knowing she’ll soon be stepping into the role of big sister makes those quiet moments feel even more meaningful.
I also loved photographing Mom and Dad together. You could see the excitement they shared as they waited to meet their son and complete their family.
And then there’s the image of their little girl surrounded by beautiful flowers. It perfectly captures her curious, joyful personality at this age—exactly the kind of photograph they’ll treasure years from now.

“I’m Not Comfortable in Front of the Camera”
Like many moms, she admitted she was nervous about being photographed.
“I am not natural in front of a camera and always feel awkward, so I hoped to find someone who was relaxed and made the experience comfortable so I could also relax and just enjoy it.”
If you’ve ever felt the same way, you’re not alone.
My goal is to create a relaxed experience where you don’t have to worry about posing or getting everything “right.” I’ll guide you every step of the way while allowing your family plenty of space to interact naturally.
After seeing her gallery, she told me,
“I am thrilled we did this. I love the photos so much. We look natural and relaxed, not posed or stiff, and I’m just so glad to have these to look back at this special time.”
That is exactly what I hope every family feels when they receive their images.

A Message for Their Baby Boy
One of my favorite questions to ask expecting parents is what they hope their baby will someday see when looking back at these photographs.
Their answer was simple and beautiful:
“We hope he will see he was so loved, and that we couldn’t wait for him to complete our family.”
That is what maternity photography is truly about.
Not just documenting a growing belly, but preserving the love, anticipation, and excitement that already surrounded your baby before they were even born.

Why Choose Maternity Photography in Pittsburgh?
When I asked if she had any advice for another expecting mom, her answer was one I think so many parents need to hear.
“I regretted not taking maternity or newborn photos with my daughter because I thought it may be too much hassle or they would not turn out how I hoped. Do not hesitate to capture this moment in your life. You will be so glad to have the beautiful photos to look back at to remember this special time in your life.”
Pregnancy is only one chapter of your story, but it is such an important one.
The little kicks, the anticipation, the way your older child hugs your belly, and the excitement of imagining who your baby will be—those are the moments you’ll want to remember long after this season has passed.
