Holiday Maternity Photography in Pittsburgh: Meaningful Photos for Cards, Gifts & Keepsakes

Maternity

Holiday Maternity Photography Pittsburgh is a beautiful way to document your growing family during an already special time of year.

If you’re pregnant this fall, you may already be thinking about the holidays…and how different they’re going to look next year.

Next Christmas, there will be a baby in your arms. If you already have a little one, they’ll officially be a big brother or big sister. Your family is about to change in such a big way.

And that’s exactly why this season is worth documenting.

Your maternity photos can capture your family exactly as they are right now while also giving you beautiful images to use for Christmas cards, gifts, and keepsakes.

And no, your maternity session doesn’t have to look overly Christmas-y to work for the holidays.

Holiday Maternity Photography in Pittsburgh Doesn’t Have to Feel “Holiday”

You don’t need Christmas trees, matching pajamas, or holiday props to use your maternity photos for Christmas cards.

I photograph holiday maternity sessions the same way I photograph all of my maternity sessions—relaxed, natural, and focused on your family.

Of course, we’ll get that photo where everyone is looking at the camera. I know you probably want at least one of those for your Christmas card!

But we’ll also get the photos that feel more like you.

Your toddler snuggled against your belly. Your partner making you laugh. Your family playing together. Those little in-between moments that you can’t really plan but usually end up being some of my favorites.

You can have the Christmas card photo and the meaningful photos you’ll want hanging in your home long after the holidays are over.

There’s Something Special About Being Pregnant During the Holidays

This is something I understand personally.

After three long years of trying to get pregnant, I was finally pregnant during the winter.

I remember thinking about how different the next holiday season would be because I would finally have my baby there with me.

There’s something really special about that anticipation.

I also photographed a couple who had struggled to get pregnant, and you could just feel how excited they were to finally be at this point. They were having their maternity photos taken knowing that the next holiday season would look completely different.

Those are the sessions that remind me why maternity photos matter so much.

It isn’t just about having pretty pictures while you’re pregnant.

It’s about remembering what your family looked like right before everything changed.

Want to Use Your Holiday Maternity Photos for Christmas? Book Early.

This is probably the biggest thing I want expecting moms to know.

If you want to use your maternity photos for Christmas cards or gifts, don’t wait until November to schedule your session.

September and October are ideal.

That gives us enough time for your session, editing and gallery delivery. It also gives you time to choose your favorite images, order Christmas cards, and purchase any prints or gifts without feeling rushed.

Once November rolls around, the timeline gets much tighter.

Many printing companies also have holiday ordering deadlines, especially for albums, framed prints, and other products.

The last thing you need while pregnant and getting ready for the holidays is another deadline to stress about.

Booking your session earlier means we can take our time and you can actually enjoy the process.

Holiday Maternity Photography Pittsburgh: Ways to Use Your Photos

One of the best things about planning Holiday Maternity Photography in Pittsburgh is that your photos can serve more than one purpose.

You can use your maternity photos for:

  • Christmas cards
  • Framed prints for grandparents
  • An album or keepsake
  • Wall art for your home
  • Gifts for your parents or in-laws
  • A pregnancy announcement if you haven’t shared the news yet

And even if only one photo makes it onto your Christmas card, the rest of your gallery is still documenting your pregnancy and your family exactly as they are right now.

These aren’t just holiday photos.

They’re your maternity photos that happen to be taken during a really special time of year.

Next Christmas, Everything Will Be Different

This might be my favorite reason to have maternity photos taken during the holiday season.

Think about next Christmas.

That belly you’re holding in your photos will be the baby you’re holding in your arms.

If you already have a child, they’ll officially be a big brother or big sister.

Your family will look different.

Life probably feels busy right now. You’re preparing for a baby, keeping up with your other kids, thinking about the holidays, and trying to do everything else that needs done.

But this version of your family deserves to be remembered too.

That’s one of the reasons I love maternity photography so much. Pregnancy is such a short season of your life, even when it doesn’t always feel that way while you’re in it.

Someday, these photos will remind you of what your family looked like while you were waiting for the newest little person to join it.
