Third Baby, First Session: AS’s Beautiful Maternity Experience

Every maternity session tells a story—and AS’s story is one of joy, reflection, and deep appreciation for the little things. As a maternity photographer in Pittsburgh, PA, I’ve learned that some of the most meaningful moments are the ones that feel quiet and personal: a baby’s hiccups, a curious big sister, a mom savoring her final pregnancy. AS’s session was all of that and more.
When Amber found out she was expecting her third baby, her emotions were filled with excitement—especially when she learned this time, it was a boy. “We were so excited,” she shared. “We knew our little family was now complete.” After two girls, this pregnancy felt like a beautiful final chapter. To capture this special moment, she decided to book a session with a maternity photographer in Pittsburgh, PA.
One of the most special parts for Amber was watching her oldest daughter connect with the experience. “She wanted to be so involved, always asking how big her little brother was getting—comparing him to fruit every week,” Amber laughed. It’s those sweet sibling moments that turn a pregnancy into a family affair.
Knowing this would be her last baby, Amber approached things differently. “I didn’t do a maternity session with my first two,” she admitted. “With my second, I at least tried to document bump pics, but this time, I knew I needed to do it right. I wanted to remember this season of life.”
As a Pittsburgh maternity photographer, I hear this often: the realization that this season is fleeting and that photos are the one way to hold onto it just a little longer.
When it came to choosing a photographer, Amber said comfort was key. “I wanted someone I could feel relaxed around, and I really liked the natural style of your work.” She was a little nervous going into the session—something so many moms can relate to—but shared that those nerves quickly melted away. “Once I met you, I felt totally at ease.”
That sense of comfort and connection showed through in her images. When she saw the final gallery, Amber said she felt something she didn’t expect: confidence. “I’m not usually the center of attention, but I kind of enjoyed it!” she said with a smile. “I felt beautiful. I felt proud.”

Amber’s message to her son when he looks back at these photos one day?
“That I enjoyed my pregnancy and actually loved my pregnancy body because it gave me him. It was probably the most comfortable I’ve felt in my body in my adult life.”

There’s so much beauty in that. Pregnancy, with all its discomforts, aches, and unknowns, can also be a place of deep connection and self-love.
When I asked what advice she’d give to another mom, Amber offered this honest, heartfelt reminder: “Even though it can feel like it lasts forever, pregnancy really is just a short blip in time. One day, it becomes a distant memory you’ll actually weirdly miss.”
She described this stage of life with one perfect word: magical.

As for her favorite part of the session? “You hyped me up and built my confidence in front of the camera.” And honestly, that’s my favorite part too—helping every mama see herself the way her loved ones do: radiant, strong, and glowing with purpose.
Amber left me with one last piece of wisdom, and I couldn’t agree more:
“Do the pictures. You will never regret taking them, but you may regret not taking them.”
